Being able to speak more than one language is a valuable asset that will open many doors for students, such as earning college credits, scholarships, studying abroad, and greater employment opportunities.I am doing a fundraiser for library science graduate school. Danie Orelien, Supervisor of Bilingual, ESL and Acting Supervisor of World Languages stated, "Helping students recognize the value of their academic success and seeing the tangible benefits of being bilingual is of great importance to our District`s Bilingual, ESL and World Languages Department. This year 71 graduating seniors from LHS received the New Jersey State Seal of Biliteracy. The Seal of Biliteracy is an award given to students who have studied and attained proficiency in two or more languages by high school graduation. On Tuesday, July 25th, at the Linden Public Library, Professor Mary Curran along with her team interviewed Seal of Biliteracy recipients in Haitian Creole, from the Linden High School Class of 2023, Wilmica Cenelien, Clara Toussaint and Sara Emille. The Rutgers Graduate School of Education and the New Jersey Department of Education have teamed up to promote the State of New Jersey Seal of Biliteracy and Linden was one of the towns chosen for the promotional video.
